Date: 2008-08-31 04:24 am (UTC)Regardless, Lindsay seems to have the self-analytic skills of a four-year-old, given that the first single on her second album was fundamentally a message to her dad, and whenever her dad says something about her to the media she responds by REFUTING HIM THROUGH THE MEDIA WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY SAYING THAT ONE SHOULDN'T BE SAYING THINGS THROUGH THE MEDIA. There was a Cosmo interview from several years ago where she did the exact same thing. She's just awesomely self-deluded.

Date: 2008-08-31 12:18 pm (UTC)given that this is the media's dominant mode (it's actually less like this in the uk, where advocate-journalists are much more common), it doesn't surpise me much that there's often a disjunction between what an instinctive-rather-than-thoughtful musician says when they speak in words, and what their music says

Date: 2008-08-31 12:22 pm (UTC)again i think this attitude is very widespread; in fact almost built in to the material conditions most writers experience (meaning that they're isolated and -- given the nature of comercial competition for publication space -- have very little grasp of the impact of their role considered as a collective or a class)
