As you may have surmised, foreign agents shut off the transponder on my home DSL. Search parties expect to find said DSL sometime midweek. In the meantime I've been walking around my new neighborhood. I'm now living in heavily Latino west Denver, though my apt is just a couple minutes' walk from the Little Saigon business strip on Federal. The ratio of phở joints to marijuana establishments is about 30:1, a ratio you don't find in other parts of the city.

Good news and bad news from the lower tiers of K-Pop idoldom
Date: 2014-03-16 02:22 pm (UTC)Juliane of Chocolat has appeared on Let's Go Dream Team again.
TREN-D are coming back on 21st March with 두근두근.
The bad news:
Elly has been absent from TREN-D's public appearances and photoshoots since February. People are saying that she's ill, but there doesn't seem to be any source for that apart from international fans talking to each other.
Meanwhile, the Chocolat fans at onehallyu have concluded that Melanie has left the group. Or that Lori has left. Or something.

Date: 2014-03-18 05:43 pm (UTC)Hope that Melanie hasn't left, since singers, even when they're very good, often don't go on to have viable careers once they leave the group. There are exceptions, of course:
My So-Called Life, during field trip to museum:
Teacher: The most important thing to remember is to stay with the group.
Angela: What is the big deal with staying with the group? What if Amelia Earhart had stayed with the group?
Ricky: Or Diana Ross?
Question. Are Vixx lacking in fame enough to qualify for No Tiers? And are they good enough? "On And On" is their only real brush with greatness, but I do like them, and the category does need some Y chromosomes.

Also, do you think PungDeng-E are good enough? This is promising, though another song is the one that's getting pushed:

Speaking of personnel changes, for the second time in their career LPG have completely changed their lineup. There are now nine of 'em. They call their album Filial Daughters' Generation, which may be a reference to another nonet. (I forget if I've been including LPG in No Tiers; again, they may be too lacking in nonfame; alternately, they're trot, which means it's questionable how much a part of K-pop they are.) Here's the best of their new ones, again not the single. Is a cover of this, by Wax, which is a reworking of Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop":

Yes, their names were chosen to spell TREN-D

Date: 2014-03-21 10:35 am (UTC)The cover photo for PitAPat (두근두근) only shows four members.
Re: Yes, their names were chosen to spell TREN-D
Date: 2014-03-21 02:39 pm (UTC)두근두근 transliterates as "DOO-gən DOO-gən," but they sing it so fast it sounds more like ""DOO-gə DOO-gə." The meaning Google translate gives is "exciting"; beneath that Google gives "pitapat" as an alternative.
I way prefer "Candy Boy," though "PitAPat"'s an okay breeze.

Pop, Pop, Artpop

Date: 2014-03-28 11:15 am (UTC)Yes it's trot (or techno-trot) and yes they're wearing the ahjumma costumes. The choreography "has the potential to kill a pop-jhussi or two if they try to cover it"...

I hope they do a trot version of "Hava Nagila" shortly.
You can embed YouTube vids in comments as you normally would anywhere, but if you're using the lj-template format to get a nice small embed and the YouTube video begins "https://" you have to delete the "s" so as to produce "http://" or lj will tell you that you've got an invalid url.
E.g., <lj-template name="video">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPeEewA0Dg</lj-template> gets you this error message:
[Error: unknown template video]
whereas <lj-template name="video">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPeEewA0Dg</lj-template> gets you the vid:
[Error: unknown template video]
*EDIT: Er, transliterated into Roman script, not specifically English.
