Do squirrels ever walk, or stroll?

All I ever see them do is scurry. Or race. They scurry (or race) from place to place. Or they scurry a foot or two and then stop. Then scurry forward a bit more. And stop. Etc.
I have not spent much time studying squirrels, obviously. I am usually in my head having ideas instead, or brooding. Or looking at a computer screen.
I could have gone to wikip to look for an answer to this question.
There are people who study squirrels and such for a living, correct?

Date: 2010-11-24 10:05 pm (UTC)mice physically have to eat like ALL THE TIME so i imagine this is why they don't linger between snacks and RUN between them -- also dodging predators obviously
but squirrels have sharp claws and are feisty -- how often do they have to eat?
i often wonder if the fast little animals live faster also: is their minute our hour?
