Love And Theft Story

I love love love Love And Theft's "Runaway," a sweet California harmonied breeze of a thing that's going to be one of my country singles of the year. It's nothing special, sort of subdued Fleetwood Mac, "Go Your Own Way" lite, just a trio of nice boys and nice "oo oo oo"s and a nice lift from the harmonies and a rhythm that drives you along without spurting a lot of smoke.

Date: 2009-03-24 05:07 pm (UTC)I think mostly I just absolutely can't understand the Taylor Swift thing. I keep trying to get my head around her (not least because the current ubiquity of 'Love Story' makes it hard not to try to) but I just ...don't understand it. :/

Date: 2009-03-24 05:46 pm (UTC)dorkspeople complain that Taylor Swift isn't real country music since she's too pop or too suburban or something. (She's a singer-songwriter awash in her feelings, is what she is. And that is now part of country, even if it wouldn't have been country fifty years ago.)In any event, here's a country song you'll probably like: Shooter Jenning's "Daddy's Farm."
Have you listened to "Independence Day" yet? Have you? Have you?
I mean, it's not like "Kerosene" and "Gunpowder and Lead" come out of nowhere.
