Album of the Year

Robyn made the best album I heard last year. Admittedly, this is faint praise given I heard probably 30 albums put out in '08. Nonetheless, it does better than any other what I liked ab long players when I had more time for them: it creates its own world and makes you want to come back for more. Who's that girl? She knows a beat and sings feisty and sweet!

I actually voted for the album in '05, when it was out in Sweden (though the American version has a couple of newer songs: "Cobrastyle" and "With Every Heartbeat" and also has a dance version of "Bum Like You" instead of the original's singer-songwriter style (that's the only bum note on the re-release, since the original "Bum Like You" is more affecting).

Robyn has a combination of exquisitely femme sweetness and anger that I find irresistible on record, though I don't know how the combo would work for me if it were in someone I knew in real life.
