what i particularly enjoyed about her 'rehab' cover is that she only sang the opening chorus and the first verse, cutting back to the chorus at the bridge, and then finishing -- in other words, she sang it in such a way that she made no reference to alcohol let alone anything else.

cutting back to the chorus in lieu of the bridge, i should say.

what i particularly enjoyed about her backing band is that she basically has a harem of boys (five of them!) with awful awful unforgivable hair. plus one girl, but even she was wearing quite hideous trousers.

well, mostly it was the guitarists with the awful hair. but awful. Every time i caught sight of one of them my brain would short out from sheer hilarity.

I didn't stay for the Q&A because i always find that sort of thing super awkward, and the friend I was with needed to get home. But there was one.

She was, by the way, fantastic -- all the little introductions I'd heard before, on youtube clips and suchlike, were impossibly charming. Her voice was clear and her pitch was good: the songs were just different enough to stay fresh. She did her little arrogant shoulder-shimmy and you thought: yeah, it's good to be you. I left loving her more.

since she'd preceded the cover with a little spiel about how much she loved shopping in london and how she could just live in topshop, in a little tent, they'd never know she was there, the effect was to suggest that they tried to make her go to rehab for ~*shopping addiction*~.

The person filming doesn't seem to grasp the subtle differences between taking a photo and making a video. Or maybe they were going for "canted" and overshot?

Frank! For some reason my old link to the page of your columns isn't working. Is there any good way to reach them now besides searching for each column one at a time, so I can point all and sundry in their direction, etc.?
