When I try to print my livejournal on paper I lose about six lines at the changeover from one page to the next. Do you know what I can do about this? I'm on Windows XP, and Internet Explorer is my browser, if that has anything to do with it. (And no, I'm not going to change my browser to do this. Might change it sometimes for other reasons, but not just to see if I can get my livejournal pages to print better.)

Livejournal's help doesn't seem to have anything to say on the subject.

well if it doesn't affect other sites, it must be something to do with the LJ web architecture (and setting? though i can't see why this would be a setting anyone would want) as it interacts with the browser as this interacts with the printer, which is why i would try other printers (eg at the library?) and other browsers -- like i say, i get this at work on one printer but not on the other, using all the same settings on the computer

i don't think browsers take up a huge amount of memory just as applications but i can't work out how to find details of size -- you'd see as you were downloading them of course, the download bar tells you how is left to -- firefox is badly constructed with eg youtube, and seems to use up loads more memory than it needs to

opera i seem to recall was quite small (but that was many versions ago): maybe the new google chrome browser is worth trying?

yikes

note to self: don't write posts on matters technical after midnight! apologies for incomprehensibility

i: browsers take up two sorts of memory, the amount when they're just sitting there, and the amount they need when they're operating -- the first you can tell as you're downloading them; the second not so much -- i like firefox for lots of reasons BUT it is terrible with youtube and silts up rather quickly over time, so i'd avoid that if memory is an issue (i stopped using safari bcz it would show FT, tho i think that's been sorted; IE is just awful on the various macs i use; opera i remember way-back liking a lot for a while, quick and not memorious, tho i think also a bit flimsy -- it would just quit for no reason sometimes; why not try google chrome?

ii: if this glitch doesn't occur with other websites then it's an artefact of LJ's architecture as it interacts with (a) yr browser and (b) yr browser's interaction with yr printer --- it seems unlikely it's a default settings preference, at any point, as who would prefer it? (i mean you can set your margins so that you print only material entirely OFF the page, but this would never be a default preference)

gah!
