There's still an island of boxes in the middle of my living room, so this post is another little placeholder until I create time for a "good" one.
ImageShack took my picture links hostage and threatened to kill 'em all unless I paid money. I said, "Go ahead, commit murder," so presumably most photos on my lj and elsewhere are kaput. (E.g., this one here, Emil Jannings in The Last Command.) Maybe I'll go through and repost a few via Photobucket or some other nonhomicidal enterprise.

Date: 2015-11-25 04:18 am (UTC)The OWOB went... well, I think? I mean -- arrrgh. I think I did decent work (though of course now all the typos might as well have big flashing arrows pointing to them, I think I typed Jiyoon when I meant Jihyun at least twice). of course now I'm all in beat-myself-up-for-not-dissertating-more mode, and my husband is pointing out that I did a lot less beating myself up and procrastinating when the task was less "dissertation" and more "write at length about Hyuna's possible ambivalence towards her own image-making." Here's the whole thing; or take the "chrono" part off that URL and go straight to the last post, which has all the posts index. I did throw it over to you in the "Volume Up" entry.

Date: 2015-11-22 06:18 pm (UTC)But if Lenni or whoever simply lifted the song, keeping the same title ffs, what was she/were they thinking? If the track goes big, of course whoever owns the rights is going to find out. And if it doesn't go big, you've probably not made money anyway.
*Sampling, using parts of songs, altering songs, and so on, may be a different matter. I do suspect that a lot of producers just take what they want and decide that if and when they hit with it they'll go into negotiation, but in the meantime they don't want the time and expense of getting permission. But simply lifting a song doesn't make a lot of sense. Once again, though, I'll append the phrase "as far as I know."
