There are some cases where the performers can be putting their own spin on the same steps and yet still seeming in perfect sync. I like to call this "loose sync," as usually the music for these performances don't have the emphasis on the beat and feel looser as well. It's much harder to achieve loose sync because it's dependent on the chemistry between performers. Any decent dancers can achieve regular sync given enough rehearsal time in front of a mirror. But dancing differently and still feeling matched? That takes EVEN MORE rehearsal time, an innate understanding of how one's body moves to the music, and usually perfectionist tendencies from the parties involved.

Want to title a post "Loose Ships Lip Sync" but can't find any videos that fit. Closest I get are these two:

Ha! Turns out a coupla Beasties covered this.

Any thoughts about the recent incarnation of LPG? I like it a lot. Somehow they feel like the trot version of Boney M, though I don't know if that comparison would make any sense in relation to trot.

I haven't thought much about any incarnation of LPG before - I like the goofy atmosphere but wish they'd ham it up a bit more with the vocals. Maybe add some of those growls the grand old ladies did (and one of the beastie boys manages to feel at home with those affectations).

I guess this is even more recent LPG http://youtu.be/SHp_DdmiY_Q - very odd video. I guess trot can work as sex music.

I think one of LPG's strengths is the clear affectlessness of their singing, which made the group utterly wrong for "No Speak Americano," even with the live presentation looking great.

New singer, debut single. Whether 'retro' will always be her mode, I don't know. No MV.

Song seems to have more to it than the singer does; in any event, her live voice is sketchy. I should hunt down the studio copy, since I do like the style and the melody; which seems to draw on the Hispanic as much as on the Korean, though maybe I'm befuddled when I say so.

Lee Eun Gyeong (Lee Eun Kyung), had a three-song release last year that didn't get much attention, as far as I know, but sounds good, has the piercing nasality I associate with a lot of Asian pop that doesn't get heard here.

OK, and I'm listening for the first time to Lucky Girl, LPG's 2009 album, six of whose nine tracks also made it onto 2011's The Special. Curiously, the three that didn't all have some rap/hip-hop touches, while emphatically retaining the trot rhythm. Which isn't to say there were no rap or pop touches on the rest, but those are the three on which those touches are the strongest.
