Let's see, charts, that's where stuff that is popular is designated popular, and you observe this and get all excited or all depressed because... (some reason or other)...
Dr. Dre ft. Eminem & Skylar Grey "I Need A Doctor": Not to mention a transfusion. I think this is where I finally give up and decide that Eminem will never get his rhythm back. This doesn't mean he lacks all force (I like the track he did with Rihanna, for instance), just that whenever he pushes, he's strained. And he always pushes. BORDERLINE NONTICK.
Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes "Look At Me Now": This is pretty good, unfortunately, Chris rapping lightly, thereby letting the rubbery beats take the spotlight. Then Busta comes in and goes rubber with his voice, showing-off, amusing, though not as effective as Chris. Wayne also goes for speed, which smooths him out and neutralizes him but maintains the dominance of the beat. He says "faggot" and "bitch" and I didn't pay attention to what else. BORDERLINE TICK.
Rihanna "S&M": She and they like words, like wordplay, like sounds, like music, probably even like sex. This is total bubblegum (compare to that tedious Natalia Kills thing we reviewed on the Jukebox last week); haven't watched the vid yet since I fear darkness - I mean, I fear that they'll make it all dark and tough rather than lipsmackingly silly. Anyway, Loud has loads of good songs, finally one's a single. CHAINS AND TICKS EXCITE ME.
