In which a blogger blogs briefly:
Nicki Minaj ft. Drake "Moment 4 Life": The boasts are no better than OK but the syllables pitter-patter with Nicki's excellent rapping rhythm; the sung chorus has a melody that's prettier than I'd feared; and though Drake's reliably dull, he gives a good closing summary, "Everybody dies but not everybody lives," illustrating the uneasiness beneath the triumph, the feeling that you've got to work to live your life right - right now! BORDERLINE TICK.
Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson "Don't You Wanna Stay": Interestingly enough, these lyrics are also about wondering if you can extend the moment, Jason and Kelly doing a fine job of extending their voices. Good '80s wailer. TICK.
