Todd and I had no votes in common, but four of those singles were in my top twenty ("Pick Up! U!," "Born Free," "Estamos en Algo," and "Like A G6") and another three were in my top 95 ("Giddy On Up," "Teach Me How To Dougie," and "Wile Out"), so I wouldn't be surprised if Todd haunts the same Websites I do. (My own E.via votes were for EPs.)

Hey Frank, not sure if you noticed, but Todd Kristel's ballot and mine actually shared five out of ten singles (and I might have voted for "Pick Up! U!" as well, had I heard it earlier in the year; halfway still considering it for 2011, rightly or not.) Todd and I were also the only two Pazz & Jop voters to name the Traband album.

It's interesting though I don't think particularly significant that this is the first year I can think of when you didn't get on my affinity list. We've only got two votes in common: Speak Now and Animal/Cannibal.* And no overlap on our singles list.

The reason it's not particularly significant is that if I'd switched out my number 10 and number 11 album (Jamey Johnson) then you'd have been back on the affinity list, and if I'd substituted my 11 through 20 singles for 1 through 10 we'd have had another two in common; and five of your remaining eight singles were on my long list (though one of them was 2009's long list).

How well do you know Todd? Didn't he write several things for you at the Voice? I'm trying to remember if he and I have interacted. I'm forgetting things in my old age. For all I know we've conversed a lot on Rolling Country or somewhere with him on a pseudonym. My guess is that he's kept an eye on your posts at various places, and that he picked up on your liking for "Pick Up! U!" on the Singles Jukebox. Of course, it's more fun to suppose he came up with his picks for reasons entirely unrelated to our influence (or only distantly related).

*My vote was for Animal alone, by the way; the Voice added all votes together, which makes sense; though I could have screwed things up for them if Cannibal had also made my top ten.

I knew Todd a little back in my Philly days, Frank, though I honestly can't remember how. Maybe via some mutual friend or acquaintance? Think he (maybe?) wrote for me just a couple times at the Voice, but I could be wrong (either because he wrote for me more than that, or not at all -- I've started forgetting more than you have.) As far as I know, he's not an ILX or Rolling Country regular, though I could be wrong about that, too -- if so, I have no idea what his screen name would be. Definitely haven't knowingly talked to him in years. (But if you're out there, Todd, hi! Hope you're well!)

Okay, I just Googled -- looks like he probably wrote for me about Laibach, Manu Dibango, Couch Flambeau, trucker-country oldster Red Simpson, a live Springsteen album (and maybe other things?) Unless he wrote them for somebody else around the mid '00s, and they just wound up later on the New Times/Voice website. (Honestly, I assigned and published so many pieces in 7 Voice years, it's hard to keep track.)

My "memory" here occurred the same way yours did, by Google, so perhaps he wrote those for one of the other Voice/New Times outfits. In any event, I like his taste.
