Not sure the order, but my singles of the year look something like:

Justin Bieber f. Ludacris - Baby
Far East Movement f. The Cataracs and Dev - Like a G6
Zinc f. Ms. Dynamite - Wile Out
YG - Toot It and Boot It
Rick Ross - BMF
Sade - Soldier of Love
RL - In the Club Like
Sunny Sweeney - From a Table Away
Fefe Dobson - Ghost
Kelis - Song for the Baby [not a single -- of her actual single's I'd probably just go with "Acapella"]

That fact may adjust my singles list, which looked like this a month or so ago:

Top 10 Singles:
"Vida en la Noche"--Daddy Yankee
"All the Lovers"--Kylie Minogue
"Your Love Is My Drug"--Ke$ha
"Paper Romance"--Groove Armada
"Baby"--Justin Bieber feat. Ludacris
"Get Off On the Pain"--Gary Allan
"Praise You Forever"--Marvin Sapp
"Babylon"--Congorock
"Soldier of Love"--Sade
“Alles Neu”--Peter Fox

(the Marvin Sapp isn't really a single, but it sounds like one)

And Jamey Johnson will likely end up occupying an album spot, but a month ago I had:

Top 12 (Totally Worth It):
Cathedral--The Guessing Game (Nuclear Blast)
Ke$ha--Animal (RCA)
Diana Reyes--Amame, Besame (EMI Latin)
WASP--Babylon (Demolition ‘09)
Sleigh Bells--Treats (Mom + Pop)
Frightened Rabbit--The Winter of Mixed Drinks (Fatcat)
Sho Baraka--Lions & Liars (Reach)
Groove Armada--Black Light (Cooking Vinyl)
Drive-By Truckers--The Big To-Do (New West)
Various Artists--Next Stop Soweto: Township Sounds from the Golden Age of Mbaqanga (Strut REISSUE)
Vampire Weekend--Contra (XL)
Henry Threadgill Zooid--This Brings Us To, Vol. 1 (Pi '09)

I understand Threadgill's issuing a Vol. 2, which, if it's anything like Vol. 1, also has a good shot at landing a spot. That band is incredible.

Here's the rest of my spouting off, with cockamamie statistical analysis and small genre-specific album lists. Weirdly, I also recently enjoyed the latest Eminem CD.

My singles list so far this year, as I've said elsewhere, is a total ad hoc mess. And there are lots I still haven't heard. But as of now, my Top 10 would look something like:

Coati Mundi – Bundas Bom
Intocable – Estamos En Alqo
Sunny Sweeney – From a Table Away
Sweet Angel – A Girl Like Me
Mallary Hope – Blossom In The Dust
Far*East Movement feat. The Cataracs and Dev – Like A G6
Laura Bell Bundy – Giddy On Up
Robert Banks – Alvaretta’s Night Out*
Cali Swag District – Teach Me How To Dougie
Busy Signal – Tic Toc (GreenMoney Liquid Re-Rub)*

With these two* conceivably eventually being determined to be too old to list. (The Robert Banks one actually seems to date back to 2004, a fact I may or may not ignore when compiling my ballot.) And here are 20 possible runners-up:

Vybz Kartel ft. Popcaan and Gaza Slim – Clarks
Lady Antebellum – Stars Tonight
Pastor Mbhobho – Ayobaness
Evolution Dejavu – Kurare
Rocket From The Tombs – I Sell Soul
Intocable – Hay Ojitos
Far*East Movement feat. Lil Jon and Colette Carr – Go Ape
Luther Lackey – If She’s Cheatin’ On Me I Don’t Want To Know
Eric Church – Smoke A Little Smoke
Luther Lackey – It Ain’t Easy Being The Preacher’s Wife Martina McBride – Wrong Baby Wrong
Stealing Angels – He Better Be Dead
Die Antwoord – Enter The Ninja
Little Big Town – Little White Church
Ke$ha feat. 3Oh!3 – Blah Blah Blah
Princessa – Más Fuego
Lil Wayne feat. Eminem – Drop The World
M.I.A. – Born Free
Bigg Robb – Everybody Makes Mistakes
Kevin Fowler – Pound Sign (#?*!)

That Eric Church might very well sneak into mine. And I suppose I better listen to Far East Movement.

My lists are a bit strange this year. One is underdeveloped and the other overdeveloped. The records one are the albums I still want (or feel I need) to listen again, and there are twenty or so after listening to lots and lots. Also: is a bore. The tracks/singles I don’t think is the best of nothing. A bunch of tracks that I felt compelled to listen (the main filter this year for me) and that I liked for whatever reason, but I skipped a lot of music and I think (not feel) that I should work more in and redone from side to side. Both lists in no order, not necessarily the main selections, and not the whole thing (I don’t think they are going to change much, the mainlines at least, so if I post them complete is almost as if I have already finished listening records for this year). Have embedded a couple of tracks because I’m not sure if those are their real titles.

Tracks

Elva Hsiao “Let Love Fly”

Momoiro Clover “Pinky Jones”
Nakano Fujoshi Sisters “Honey Bee”
Idoling!!! “S.O.W. (Sense Of Wonder)”
Katy B “Louder”
Kourtney Heart ft. Magnolia Shorty “My Boy”
Perfume “VOICE”
AKB48 “Ponytail to Shushu”/ “Beginner” (with uncensored MV)
After School “Bang!”
KARA “Lupin”
Rainbow “A”
Miss A “Good Girl Bad Girl”
E.via “Shake”
Black Coffee “Superman”
Tinie Tempah “Pass Out”
Deadboy “If U Want Me”
Girl Unit “WUT”/ “IRL”
Endgames “Ecstasy (Jam City refix)”
Vybz Kartel ft. Popcaan “Clarks”
Gyptian “Hold You”

Records

Michael Pisaro “A wave and waves”/ “July Mountain” (reading the liner notes while listening to them)
Oval “O”
Catherine Crister Hennix “The Electric Harpsichord”
Shed “The Traveller”
Thomas Ankersmit “Live in Utrecht”
Jasmine “Gold”
Rangers “Suburban Tours”
DJ Nate “Da Trak Genious”
Actress “Splazsh”
Oneohtrix Point Never “Returnal”

Pleasant track from Elva... I really have zero, zilch clue about what's up in the Chinese-speaking pop world.

Also, I could probably have included 'Beginner', but only recently heard it for the first time. It approaches 'River' in epic hugeness.

I'm not sure how you would feel about a number of these albums, but one that I'm curious as to why you haven't heard it is The-Dream, especially since you placed Love vs. Money so high last year. Also, at least two albums have appeared in the last week alone that have thrown serious wrenches in my list. The first is Curren$y's Pilot Talk 2, the second album he's released this year alone, and the other is Yelawolf's Trunk Muzik, which I'm pretty sure is just a reworking of his excellent mixtape from earlier this year. Those are two albums I think you might be interested in.

Aside from fifty or so albums I am either indifferent to or just plain can't stand, there are probably fifty or so albums I have yet to hear, two of them being the Princesa EP and E.via, both of which you hipped me to.

I like Love King a little better than I do Love vs. Money: Subjectively and lyrically Love vs. Money might have the edge, but Love King is way more of a party, and the beats bang harder. On synthwork alone it's easily The-Dream's best work yet, everything is just huge walls of vapor and liquid all dancing around, blinding you with science. And "Yamaha/Nikki Pt. 2/Abyss" is easily my single of the year, which is why Love King will not make my P&J, since I've come to agree with Chuck that singles and albums shouldn't be conflated on those ballots.

Well, I listen to enough music in a given year, especially this one, where I feel like I try to spread as many of the artists I've enjoyed onto my ballot. Additionally, in this case, I don't think Terius will have a hard time cracking the P&J in some form whether it be singles or albums, so I'd rather just give the whole thing to the "Yamaha" suite. The reason I count the three as a single is because Terius released a video for all three tracks, hence I'd classify it as a single. The video's available on YouTube.

"Yamaha" is probably my favorite song he's ever done. I love the way the drums all sort of dance around the center--it kind of alludes to that "centerless" notion you talk about in the electronic/dub piece and that we discussed at some point earlier this year. My second-favorite track on the album is "F.I.L.A." for those fantastic horns and the chorus.

Not sure why I can't figure out LJ. I could've sworn that I posted the last comment as a "Reply" here, but for some reason it's showing up under my list. In any way, it belongs here.
