What the hell has happened to [livejournal.com profile] poptimists? It's like no one's home. Yeah, few can be bothered to learn about country, that's no surprise. But I'd think violent women would be a real crowd-pleaser.

I guess a lot of the old regulars have Proper Jobs now (or ones that block Livejournal).

I think the thing about the violent women thing is that that's quite touchy territory. I sort of half started to reply, got angry, tried to articulate this for three minutes and then had to shout at some people IRL. :(

No I know what it is, I just think that's an awkwardly broad topic. Also sort of a weird one. Why not just 'revenge songs' or 'dark songs about relationships' or I don't know... there are songs I like that are about women getting violent revenge against men but I don't really think of them as that I suppose. 'Gunpowder and Lead' or 'Call Me Guilty' are powerful songs about domestic violence but they're sort of in the same category as 'Ruby (Don't take your love to town)' (or whatever it's actually called) for me; dark songs about relationships, not urgh oh, I don't know, there's a big ball of rage for me in this and it is tied to the angry women thing.
