Six days late, is the longest I've let this stretch. My enthusiasm is compelling. Or my compulsion is enthusiastic. But I'm not.
Justin Bieber "U Smile": A song as pretty as his face, prettied up electronically even more. BORDERLINE TICK.
Jay-Z ft. Mr. Hudson "Young Forever": Pale sentiment from Mr. Hudson; song could potentially sway, but Jay-Z's walk is too stolid. Don't understand what happened. NO TICK.
Zac Brown Band "Highway 20 Ride": A placid and pretty road, as a divorced dad makes a day's ride every other weekend to see his son. The song takes about a day making its few points, too. NO TICK.
In contrast, here's Johnny Rivers doing Chuck Berry's "Memphis," effective storytelling that tells a lot, quickly. 1964.
