I'm thinking of earlier Britney Spears songs than you are, before being very drunk was much of an option. And actually I think I'm conflating this memory (c. 2000, or maybe '99, of me hanging out the back of a station wagon as it rolled through my neighborhood, admiring my dangling feet) with a different song, that Train "Drops of Jupiter" song.
