Jukebox tourney commences

The Singles Jukebox year-end tournament begins. I love Phil Liggett's characterization of Shipley, though I also like Shipley's write-up, even if he does use the "r" word. (Tournament procedures are described here.)

(NB: Dirty Projectors' track sounds like puppets trying to dance to Minnie Riperton. Could have been good if done by professional puppeteers, but seems wooden to me.)

I am mystified at the DPs getting through - I said at the time "Over the last several years, many acts have offered answers to the question “What if Bjork couldn’t sing?”, and here is the latest," and that is still how I feel. I gave it 2, and seeing it anything but bottom in a pretty good group is extraordinary. I feel the same about the 2nd placed track in group 2 as well - I guess a few strong placings from the indie fans can have more effect here than when averaged out, or something.
