"Hi guys. Miss me?"

It is a funny line in its moment, but the episode is quite skillful at slowly undercutting that line's apparent cheerfulness. You can call this the PTSD episode. The repartee is excellent, as always; everything is flawless for the first third, as Buffy's friends start to get uneasy with her ("Now, that was a good insult," "A little too good," "What's up with her?"), then the same point gets made more heavily, and finally the action sequences aren't up to the emotions that the drama had established. But a good beginning. I promise not to gripe any more about plot illogic if you continue not to give me any SPOILERS. But they're still making up Cordelia as they go along - near the end of season one they decided to make her more than just a caricature, but they still want to retain the caricature, so neither side of her seems quite in character anymore. I'm sure I'll accept her when they find the balance.

Dickens sometimes had this trouble, was publishing early parts of his novels before finishing the later. It's a challenge with series.

(I really don't know if I'll have time to watch any more of these soon. I've got the flu, a very mild case, so I gave myself permission today to relax and stop concentrating exclusively on music.)

Season 2 is one of my favourites, with a great finale, but as I recall it does take a while to get to its best parts.

You're right about Cordelia at this stage, but they do get much better at her.

Well I've jumped way ahead of you to Season 6. Will only comment on what you write about each episode, though, and don't have anything to say about season 2 just yet.
