No and yes. No in the sense that the injury wasn't caused by repetitive stress. I blame it on sunscreen actually. I was putting on sunscreen and noticed for the hundredth time that my left arm was more flexible than my right as to where it could reach (this is even more noticeable with my feet, in that my left leg has movement that's way faster and has greater range than the right's) and decided to try the experimental method, i.e. to see if I pushed myself I could move my right hand to the back of my neck from the right side as I can move my left hand to the back of my neck from the left side. Anyway I tried, went "Oh, bad idea," as I felt a muscle strain. That was more than a week ago, and I thought no more of it, since muscle strains tend to take care of themselves unless you keep straining them in the exact same way. So I went along with my day-to-day activities, doing pushups, mouse-clicking tracks on YouTube, writing notes and drafts by hand, etc. Definitely felt something when doing pushups, but didn't think I was straining further. But likely I'd actually torn something in the first place (RSI generally causes swelling, not tearing), so now I was probably aggravating the tear. Anyway, after a long frustrating evening on YouTube, during which tracks were hard to find and my ISP was being recalcitrant in loading them, I found I was in real, debilitating pain. And there's a similarity here to how I got my tendinitis: in both instances I wasn't paying enough attention to what my body was telling me, as I was compulsively typing/clicking away. Or I was misreading what it was telling me (e.g., "yes, my chronic neck and shoulder pains are calling to me; I really ought to rest," and ignoring my own advice, but also was overlooking the difference in the type of pain). Anyway, this is far more painful and in the short-run debilitating than the tendinitis is, as I get pain no matter where I place my arm, and jostling by e.g. walking back and forth or shifting in my seat makes me go "Ow!" But I expect that in the long run it'll be a lot less serious, in that my tendinitis and my shoulder aches from the old days reappear when I'm not careful, whereas this'll be fine once various things heal. I hope.
