The Wallpaper remix of Das Racist's "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell" has been tearing up the the poptimists charts like a diamond blade cutting through a pizza and a taco, and in Vegas has been tagged as an early favorite to win the poptimists year-end singles poll.

A bit of research uncovers Das Racist's MySpace page, with a version of "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell" that's more techno-rap and less goth-dance than the Wallpaper remix (which I've been saying reminds me of Flipper and the Descendents, who are generally considered to be variations on hardcore punk, for you nomenclature fans). Das Racist describe themselves as sounding like Asher Roth and they cite Eminem as an influence. They seem to be serious about that, in fact tend to basically be hip-hop.

YouTube reveals potential for "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell" to go viral, e.g.:

but that would depend on its getting an official dance (rather than stuff like this or this [which seems to be at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell on the 16th Street Mall]).

Here's Wallpaper's MySpace. The big play there is "T Rex," which is spacey love funk on ice skates.

The "Das" in "Das Racist" seems to be pronounced so as to rhyme with "that's," as in "That's racist!" So the name seems be an all-purpose, random comic accusation.

I don't recall Idolator posting about it, and I don't read Pitchfork. A Google search of both sites returns no results for "pizza hut and taco bell."

Idolator should post on it soon, since I lit Tumblr up with it yesterday. Don't think that Pitchfork has gotten to it yet, but Larry David, or perhaps his lookalike (I think it's the latter) has!

Wallpaper. like to spell their name with a period at the end. So the track title would really be "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell (Wallpaper. Remix)." But I'm not going to do that, probably, unless I do. Spelling variations may hurt the track's chances of winning year-end polls.

Well, no. It's just that often mags no longer have the staff to catch everything, so, e.g., back in 1875 when Robyn's "Be Mine!" was first released, the Voice's Pazz & Jop software classified votes for "Be Mine" and "Be Mine!" as being for two separate songs. But the Voice added the votes together (at least online) once we pointed this out to Chuck on an ilX thread.

The Guy Michael-Barletta Remix of "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell" is more underground garage than the Wallpaper Remix. It's from November 2008. (But if we're all voting for the Wallpaper Remix we can assign the song to 2009 - in fact, we can anyway.)
