A pleasant surprise, as a Black Eyed Peas track that I thought had long stalled has instead entered the charts on delayed release (I've not been taught the logic of such marketing strategies, but the track was only made available for download - as opposed to being made available for radio play, theft, etc. - a few days ago). A couple of other tracks induce serious ambivalence.

3OH!3 "Don't Trust Me": Schmuck finds abusable wastrel to be a turn-on. Voice is effectively snide and harmonies provide a sweet lift, unfortunately. TICK.

Pitbull "I Know You Want Me": The guy is an easy dazzler who usually leaves me a bit chilled. Reminds me of Fabolous in that regard. "I know you want me, you know I want you." So what? BORDERLINE TICK.

Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow": They're doing the vocal equivalent of contorting their bodies tightly into super propulsive rubber balls, while the rest of the music guides them with turn signals and short circuits. Fergie pronounces all three syllables in "late." One of the few groups whose deliberate quirkiness is actually riveting rather than desperate and predictable. BOOM BOOM TICK!

AAAHHHH that 3OH3 thing is utterly hateful, it makes me physically flinch. The Helen Keller line! I want to punch that dude.

Once you get over the initial WTF factor, 'Boom Boom Pow' settles amiably down around 6 or 7 out of 10, ie not bad but no 'Fergalicious' or 'My Humps'.
