Fairly nondescript week that manages to run the table. Meanwhile, "Stanky Legg" breaks into the Top 50, and the U2 album displaces Taylor, w/ Kelly waiting in the wings.

Miley Cyrus "The Climb": Miley soars through the platitudes with ease and restraint; prod. by John Shanks, this'll probably chart country too and be around for a while. TICK.

Beyoncé "Halo": A slow dance, swaying, but Beyoncé can't keep the tension from invading her voice, so we need to stay on our toes. TICK.

Darius Rucker "It Won't Be Like This For Long": Old Stiff Voice sings gently about coping with the young'un and how everything's actually all as it should be and that someday he'll miss having to cope. Could've been sung better by any of a thousand others, and the attempt to enforce a sentimental vision of normality is dispiriting, but this doesn't undermine the song's warmth. BORDERLINE TICK.

Maino f. T-Pain "All The Above": This is T-Pain's pasted on prettiness at its prettiest, almost African in its bubbling gorgeousness. The rapping is barely adequate but stays out of the way. TICK.

I haven't heard this Maino, but 'Hi Hater' was one of the best hip-hop singles of last year. CADDY ALL WHITE, CALL IT SCOTT STORCH
