The good news is that the simple acoustic version of the Jason Mraz song I failed to tick in its full arrangement last week tracked me down, and it's got just the extra breeziness to deliver its holiday feel. The bad news is below.
The Jonas Brothers "Pushin' Me Away": Friendly blips and bloops, and the Jonas boys don't bleat too badly, in fact sound cheerful. In fact sound too cheerful for the loves-me, loves-me-not lyrics. OK, but callow. NOT TICKIN' AWAY.
Secondhand Serenade "Fall For You": Passably pretty voice except when he strains, which is all the time on this one, so it's strangled, constipated passion, the murder of a mediocre melody, pop music at its worst. NO TICK.
Jordin Sparks "One Step At A Time": Ninth-best track on her debut, dreamy da-da-das, basic sweetness, not half-bad; in truth, with the sweetness and the somewhat pretty chorus, this is only 43 percent bad. However, by Year In America standards, it is NOT NEARLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR A TICK.
