(1) In the old days when I tried to embed Dailymotion's vids or any vids other than YouTube's, using the "embed" links Dailymotion etc. supplied, lj wouldn't let me. So I stopped trying, but then last Wednesday I went "What the hell, let's try again," and was able to embed Dailymotion vids by Jamie O'Neal and Lily Allen onto my lj. Then Thursday when I tried to embed a vid from Dailymotion I had no luck. And now when I try to embed a vid over on a
poptimists comment thread I get this message:
Invalid video URL.
Keri Hilson - Knock You Down

But lj is letting me embed the vid right here on my own lj:
EDIT: Well this is obviously obsolete, but here's how I attempt to embed Dailymotion these days (March 2020):
END EDIT
(2) I'm continuing to update my Rolling Geithner thread. My latest links have John Hempton making an interesting argument pro the Geithner plan that Felix Salmon, who's been generally anti, says has some merit. (Salmon calls it "Hempton's Law of the Conservation of Subsidy.") Not that I understand what they're saying.
(3) Currently there's a discussion over on Rolling Country of John Rich's heartfelt but incoherent and somewhat bigoted "Shuttin' Detroit Down" (the shutting down being attributed to "Them"). (Actually, Xhuxk et al. have been discussing this song on and off since February.)
