Black Eyed Peas stay on top but Drake emerges as a challenger. And I'm four days late as I rehabilitate my shoulder and deal with the weirdness of embittered strangers.
Hannah Montana "He Could Be The One": Blaring stomp gives way to even more blaring sugar spray. Miley's decent as a raw shouter, but amidst the bright shining guitars it's all too loud and gooey. BORDERLINE NONTICK.
Mariah Carey "Obsessed": While her AutoTune gently weeps, the string section treads onward with determination. We wait for the voice to leap up and away and into laser lines of fury, but Mariah subdues herself in service of the mood. TICK, but I'm leaving the table hungry.
Boys Like Girls "Love Drunk": Comes on as fierce and pretty as the Clash, ends up as tepid as the Jonas Brothers. But tunes and talent leave some hope for the future. BORDERLINE NONTICK.
Jason Aldean "Big Green Tractor": A slowly swinging and prettily rocking little romance about taking the lady for a moonlit drive on the tractor; is a comfortably silly number that tells the squares that there's a party even for the likes of them; unfortunately, Aldean's voice has the emotional facility of a toadstool, and corniness played for laughs isn't romantic anyway. BORDERLINE NONTICK.
