Teen Emo Pop

FYI. Don't know what this portends.

Listen to Radio Disney on Saturday, October 28th @ 2pm ET to let us know if we should pick or kick Fall Out Boy's new song, "What's This?" ! Only from the station that let's you choose your music your way... Radio Disney!

Well, I bet it's more about Nightmare Before Christmas than Fall Out Boy. I don't think the sea change to teenmo is ready yet, the demographics skew a little too high ...I mean once you let in the FIFTEEN year olds... Or maybe when FOB or MCR or P!AD are ready, they'll come to RD, but it seems unlikely RD will come to them on their own terms. Meaning they'll write their "Radio Disney song" (like Yellowcard or All American Rejects or Good Charlotte or Simple Plan...hm, "Shut Up" is kinda risque, musta been those pesky 14 y/o's...) and leave the cultural baggage outside.

Anyway, in terms of a general shift in sound, it's only going to happen on Disney's terms, i.e. with a Disney-produced artist. So I'll start worrying when they try to foist Breaking Benjamin on Hannah Montana's audience. (Aly and AJ are darker than any of these emo kids, anyway.)

hehe, can you spell busted? if only they hadn't split up, matt was even growing an emo fringe and everything...

although that's a bit late rly, doesn' t seem to be much of the proper loonpanted nonsense

are these the kids who are *actually* doing busted songs? i heard that there was one american act that was covering eg crashed the wedding...

Yep, "That's What I Go to School For" and "Year 3000" (I think those are the only ones).

i think "that's what i go to school for" would *definitely* be too risque for disney radio...
