Treatment Subtleties

"It's true people sometimes need to be placed under involuntary mental health treatment because they can't take care of themselves," veteran psychiatrist Dr. Jeffrey Sugar said of the 26-year-old Spears. "But there's a difference between being detained involuntarily for psychological treatment and being forced to endure Dr. Phil involuntarily."

I had a dream about Dr. Phil/Britney the other night! Couldn't remember if any of it actually happened...he visited her in the hospital, but it was to convince her to come on his show the next week. When she appeared, he didn't conduct a private taped interview, but instead forced her to do it in the studio. They showed a clip show of "Britney till now," and the crowd was basically foaming at the mouth. Dr. Phil introduces her, the crowd goes nuts, she takes one look at them and bolts for the exit. Then Dr. Phil just plays archival Britney material to fill out the rest of the hour.

I'm not sure what's more disturbing, Dr Phil invading Britney's medical ward like that or the fact it's being reported. I mean, obviously in a reasonably sensible manner in that case at least but ...eh, it just seems like that makes the whole thing worse, given the scenario.
