As you may have surmised, foreign agents shut off the transponder on my home DSL. Search parties expect to find said DSL sometime midweek. In the meantime I've been walking around my new neighborhood. I'm now living in heavily Latino west Denver, though my apt is just a couple minutes' walk from the Little Saigon business strip on Federal. The ratio of phở joints to marijuana establishments is about 30:1, a ratio you don't find in other parts of the city.

(Spambots are still pounding the hell out of my comment threads. With my not having frequent Internet access, spam posts may accumulate. I'll do my best not to delete legitimate comments.)

I didn't realise it was hair metal. I just thought it was pop-rock with guitars. :)

Well, quasi-hair metal. (By hair metal I'm thinking of Crüe and Poison and Warrant and ilk, who are harder rock than this is.)

Yes it's trot (or techno-trot) and yes they're wearing the ahjumma costumes. The choreography "has the potential to kill a pop-jhussi or two if they try to cover it"...

To be clear to onlookers, if there are any, David is not now talking about "Hero," the song I embedded and tenuously described as hair metal, but about new song "어이," the teaser to which he linked atop this subthread. Btw, though the title, "어이," is being transliterated into English* as "Uh-ee," that's very wrong: first, it's "Aw-ee" not "Uh-ee" if you separate out each syllable as written; and second, Crayon Pop shout it out fast without separating the syllables, and clearly they're saying "Oy"!

The title is "Oy"! The title is "Oy"! The title is "Oy"!

I hope they do a trot version of "Hava Nagila" shortly.

You can embed YouTube vids in comments as you normally would anywhere, but if you're using the lj-template format to get a nice small embed and the YouTube video begins "https://" you have to delete the "s" so as to produce "http://" or lj will tell you that you've got an invalid url.

E.g., <lj-template name="video">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPeEewA0Dg</lj-template> gets you this error message:

[Error: unknown template video]

whereas <lj-template name="video">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPeEewA0Dg</lj-template> gets you the vid:

[Error: unknown template video]

*EDIT: Er, transliterated into Roman script, not specifically English.

Talking about "Hero" here. This is the first Crayon Pop song that I'm not fond of. I want to like it but it's a little too generic sounding. It reminds me of Shonen Knife, which is fine but it's not what I want from Crayon Pop. I still say "Dancing Queen" is their finest moment so far. Somehow that was my most played song last year.
