I don't know. I think people's attachment to the big dealness of something is more than an attachment to the pragmatics of departmental structure. (Why would the far left be committed to the pragmatics of departmental structure?) They think it's more than an esoteric philosophical point that's at issue. And you do too, don't you? And Leonard does, and Martin does, right?
