I'm not claiming these tracks are heavily Afro-Cuban. But they do use one of the clave rhythms:

I presume this rhythm enters hard rock by way of Bo Diddley; a precursor to "1969" is the instrumental break to the Byrds' "Tribal Gathering" (at 0:50 and 1:30):
