With my ballot for the Nashville Scene's country music critics poll due in a little under 32 hours, I'm posting my leading 20 candidates for my singles list. Help! What have I left off that I shouldn't have? Especially, what alt-country/Americana stuff am I overlooking? (I am trying to vote for actual singles/focus tracks, though I'm willing to define those terms loosely. If something acts like a single - lots of people make a big deal over it, basically - then I'm counting it. I also define "country" loosely; e.g., choice number 8.)

Overwrought, broken, sentimental, and in control of their material, add the Best of Tim CD and the Flicka soundtrack, and you got to include them...

I put that Dierks track as well, and i dont know why, i love it but havent been able to articulate it, can you talk about it a bit?

I assigned the Tim and Faith duet to 2005. I like "Stealing Kisses" but others beat it to the Top 20. The Aldean would also be in my top 30, as would at least one of the Strait singles (probably "Give It Away"). In fact, I searched AOL Music for those songs because of your recommendation, so thank you. I'm still listening a lot to see what I overlooked so don't have time to talk about the Dierks except to say that doing a light touch on sad material takes... well, it takes a light touch. There were other songs as good on his 2005 album. Haven't heard this year's album but was disappointed with its first single, which seemed to lose the lightness.
